Why doesn't my monk auto-attack?
With my Paragon, I can press the "targetting foe: next" button and the foe will automatically be selected without me even having to click on it. I can then use one of my attack skills, e.g Spear of Lightning and my Paragon will run into range of the foe and start attacking it automatically, over and over.
With my monk, this is a different story. When I select a foe with the "targetting foe: next" button and activate an attack spell e.g Banish, my Monk will run into range of the foe, use Banish but instead of automatically atacking the foe after, he will just stand there and do nothing. I have to manually click the foe for my monk to automatically attack it. Why is this? Why does my paragon automatically attack a foe but my monk doesn't? This is fairly annoying to me. |

I would assume because you're paragon is using an attack skill whereas Banish is a spell.

Your paragon is being ordered to execute an attack skill. That's as good as telling him to just attack, so he will continue to attack after the attack skill's been fired off.
Your monk is being ordered to cast a spell. He will cast, but as he has not been issed an attack order he won't do much else. Here's something handy that can cut down the time it takes to order the attack though. Use your targeting keys as normal, hit the space bar (this will also start him running into range), and then order him to cast the spell. Your monk will start attacking as soon as the spell is cast. |

you could also just use the Space Bar and auto attack when you have a foe targeted.

Yups, casting a Spell doesnt count as attacking a foe so the auto attack doesnt kick in. Using a Attack skill does since as the name suggests its an attack (the same as wanding is an attack)

Ah I see, now I understand... thanks
I don't use the keyboard at all, I only use the mouse while fighting. I have my "target next foe" on one of the thumb buttons on my mouse but thanks for the suggestion. |

Isn't it up to the individual to play how they want? Didn't know we needed to get approval from the Cookie-cutter Board. He's a monk, he probably has monk heroes, and there are monk henchies. Do they all need to heal and protect? |

When in a party full of humans, 9 times out of 10 I play as a healing/protector monk, but during quests, I like to battle. There is nothing wrong with that people! |

Smite is a spell, but will cause you to attack after it has cast iirc. Haven't used it in a long time, so i might remember it wrong. But I think my Monk would continue attacking after casting Smite. Reason is that Smite is an attack skill, even though it is a spell. It uses your weapon, so if you are a Totem Axe user, it will cause you to run into melee range.

MagmaRed, it used to be an "Attack" but has since been changed to "Spell", so that won't work any more.
